About meditation
The meditation technique we teach at Base is easy to learn, simple to practice, and, in only a short period of time, you can experience a remarkable transformation in your eyes-open experience of life.
Contrary to popular belief, meditation is easy to learn and the benefits can be experienced immediately. Learning to meditate doesn’t require any previous experience. Even those who consider themselves to have the busiest minds and believe it will be impossible for them to learn can be easily taught to have deeply restful meditative experiences in 3 short sessions.

Our Meditation Introduction Talk is a cost and obligation-free online talk where we share the mechanics of stress, what meditation actually is, how it works, and why it's a great idea to learn. We allow plenty of time for questions so you’ll feel fully informed to decide whether learning is for you.

What takes place in the Learn To Meditate Course?
During the first session, you will be given specific instructions on how to practice the technique. Over the following 2 days, the technique is carefully examined and refined, providing you with all the experience and know-how to be completely self-sufficient in your own practice. We examine the impact of stress on the body, the nature of the mind and how meditation is a powerful technique to manage stress and sustain wellbeing. Upon completion of the course, you’ll have the experience and knowledge required to practice on your own.
What are the benefits of meditation?
Many studies have been conducted across different categories of meditation techniques, of which have revealed a broad range of benefits for both mind and body.
These include:
- Reduced stress, anxiety and fatigue
- Improved concentration, focus and memory
- Increased energy levels, creativity and self confidence
- Improved sleep patterns and relief from insomnia
- Less reactivity and greater emotional stability
- A greater sense of wellbeing
- And the list goes on
What kind of meditation is taught at Base?
We teach a simple and effortless technique called the 1 Giant Mind Being Technique.
I’ve never meditated before, will I be able to learn?
Absolutely. You don’t need any prior knowledge or experience to learn. The Learn To Meditate Course is designed to take you from no meditation experience to being a fully self-sufficient meditator.
Do I need to sit still and stop thinking?
Definitely not. You don’t need to sit perfectly still or stop thinking in order to practise. In fact, thinking is part of the technique. We explain all about thinking in meditation during the course so you feel confident in your practice. We also recommend sitting comfortably on a couch, chair, or anywhere you can have your lower back supported, so you can completely let go and move into deeper states of relaxation. There is no focus or control with this technique, which means we sit comfortably and move when needed to get comfortable again.
How long does it take to experience the benefits of meditation?
The benefits will begin from your first meditation and are cumulative over time.
Most people report feeling calmer, having greater physical energy and mental clarity within the first week of meditation. Others notice the benefits unfold more gradually over time.
Everyone is at a different starting point in terms of stress and fatigue when they learn to meditate so while the benefits begin immediately, how quickly one notices them will vary.
Is the meditation technique taught at Base a religious practice?
No. The technique we teach is a simple mental technique designed to give the body very deep levels of rest that in turn release the stored stress that holds us back from our full potential. It is not necessary to believe anything in order to practice or to enjoy the benefits of this technique.
